Ircom Angers

When Ircom, a communications, humanitarian and political science school, wanted to add an artistic dimension to its visual identity, it called on illustrator Aloïs Marignane. The challenge was to highlight inspirational figures for the school, such as Marshall MacLuhan and Saint-Exupéry, while highlighting the city of Angers, where the school is located. Aloïs rose to the challenge, creating large-format illustrations based on these subjects.

Angers castle

The Château and City of Angers

One of Aloïs’ illustrations shows a picturesque panorama of the banks of the Loire. Joggers stroll along the riverbank, while local residents enjoy the tranquil surroundings. In the distance, the majestic Château d’Angers stretches out, dominating the landscape. The colors are vivid. The Château d’Angers is an impressive fortress. It features circular towers of local grey stone, with white stripes formed by bands of limestone. The château has a history dating back to prehistoric times, and offers panoramic views of the city and region from its ramparts. It is an emblematic monument of the Anjou region, rich in 6000 years of history.

The evolution of communication in one image

The Evolution of Communication

The second illustration was inspired by Marshall MacLuhan, a Canadian intellectual and communication theorist. It depicts the evolution of communication, from engraved tablets to the advent of Google. Men pass on tablets engraved with letters and symbols, evoking the beginnings of writing. A tribute to Gutenberg recalls the importance of printing in the spread of knowledge. Pages of books fly at the feet of Larry Page and Sergey Brin as they found Google in their garage, marking the arrival of the digital age.

Aéropostale flights over the Andes.

L’Aéropostale and the Andes Mountains

Another illustration pays tribute to legendary aviation figures Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and Henri Guillaumet. Inspired by Saint-Exupéry’s story “Terre des Hommes”, the illustration shows Henri Guillaumet flying over the Andes in his plane. In the foreground, against the light, a dog guards a flock of sheep alongside a shepherdess in the shade of a hut. In front of her, she watches Henri Guillaumet’s plane venture into the mountains. The tones are green and blue.

Aloïs Marignane’s illustrations, printed in very large format for Iircom, evoke inspirational personalities for the school and give a visual dimension to the school’s mission.
